Instagram Story Downloader

Stories are short photo or video posts that appear at the top of Instagram and disappear automatically 24 hours after they're posted, unless the creator saves them into a permanent Highlight on their profile. They can include text, stickers, music, polls, and other interactive elements layered on top of the photo or video. Because they vanish so quickly, many people use SaveFromInsta to preserve Stories they care about (a friend's trip, an announcement, or their own content) before that 24-hour window runs out.

Type the account's username here instead of opening the Story in Instagram. Our server fetches the Story, so your Instagram account never opens it and your name never appears in the owner's viewer list. Instagram doesn't notify anyone when a Story is saved, and you don't need an account with us. Copying a Story's link means opening the Story in the app first, which already puts you on the list, so the username is the safer choice.

Usually, yes. A video Story saves as an MP4 with the sound Instagram serves for it, and that normally includes music, voice-overs, and sound effects. We don't strip or change the audio. The one exception is out of our hands: Instagram blocks some licensed songs in certain countries, so a Story can save without its track there.

Go to the profile page, tap the Highlight cover you want to save, then tap the three dots or share icon and choose "Copy Link." Paste that link into SaveFromInsta and click Download. You'll see every photo and video in that Highlight collection, each downloadable in its original HD quality. This works the same way as downloading a regular Story, just applied to content the account owner has chosen to keep permanently featured on their profile instead of letting it expire.

When you download a Story on an iPhone or iPad using SaveFromInsta, it's typically saved straight to your Photos app, often appearing in a "Recents" or "Downloads" album depending on your iOS version. Video Stories are saved in MP4 format, and photo Stories come through as JPG files, both in the quality Instagram serves them. If a file opens in a browser tab instead of saving automatically, tap the share icon in Safari and choose "Save Video" or "Save Image" to add it to your camera roll.

Open Instagram, find the Story, tap the three dots in the top corner, and select "Copy Link." Open your browser, go to SaveFromInsta, and paste the link into the input box near the top of the page. Tap Download, and the file (photo or video) will save to your device's Downloads folder or Gallery. No app installation or Instagram login is needed; the entire process takes place in the browser you already have.

No. Our tool can only reach content that's publicly visible, so Stories from private accounts are inaccessible, the same as they would be to anyone who doesn't follow that account on Instagram. This is a deliberate limitation that respects the privacy settings the account owner chose. The only way to legitimately save a Story from a private account is to be an approved follower and take a screen recording yourself, or ask the account owner to share it with you directly.

A few common causes: the Story may have already passed its 24-hour window and expired, the account might be private, the specific post may have been deleted by the poster, or your internet connection might have dropped mid-request. Double-check that you copied the full, correct link and that the Story was still visible on Instagram when you grabbed it. If it's still not working after retrying, the safest bet is to reopen Instagram, re-copy the link fresh, and try downloading again right away.

Type the account's username instead of a Story link. The page then loads every Story the account has up right now, and a Download All as ZIP button saves them together in one file. You can also save them one at a time with each Story's own download button. Highlights work the same way on the Instagram Highlights Downloader page.

Text, drawings, and filters are part of the image or video Instagram stores, so they're in the file you save. Interactive stickers like polls, questions, and links can't be tapped in a saved file. We don't crop, watermark, or change what Instagram serves.

Saving a public Story for personal use, like keeping a memory or watching something offline, is generally fine and is what this tool is designed for. Where it gets legally risky is redistributing or monetizing someone else's content without permission, since that can run into copyright law and Instagram's own terms of service. As a simple rule: download for yourself freely, but get the creator's consent before reposting, selling, or using their content commercially anywhere else.

Photo Stories are saved as JPG files and video Stories as standard MP4 files, the formats Instagram serves them in, so both open on every phone, tablet, and computer without any conversion. You get the file in the quality Instagram serves for that Story: we don't resize, re-encode, or compress it during the download, and we don't add a watermark. That means the files look just as they did in the Instagram app.

Screenshots have real downsides: they can't capture video Stories properly, they often crop or letterbox the image, and re-photographing a screen always loses some sharpness. SaveFromInsta avoids all of that by downloading the actual source file directly from Instagram's servers: full resolution, correct aspect ratio, and, for videos, the sound and motion a still screenshot simply can't capture. Just copy the Story's link and paste it here instead of reaching for your screenshot button.

Yes. Type the account's username into SaveFromInsta, or paste a Story link, and click Download; the file will save to your computer's default Downloads folder, ready to open with any media player or image viewer. The username is the better choice: opening the Story on instagram.com while logged in, to copy its link, puts you on the viewer list. This works the same on Windows, Mac, and Linux, since everything runs in the browser.

If a Story's 24-hour window closes before you finish pasting the link and clicking Download, Instagram removes access to it and the download can't complete. There's no way for any tool to recover a Story after it's gone. To avoid this, copy the link and start the download as soon as you decide you want to keep something, rather than waiting. Having a stable internet connection also helps the whole process finish well within that time limit.
